Every since i remember hearing hip hop it was first about the jam and after a while the remix. Now it's kinda about the guest artist, hook and the beat. All i know is if you can keep the people's attention, you can keep it all. Sean Combs built his empire off that pyre of fire - i mean heat. He could have given up after that concert debacle.
He didn't.

He kept pace by upping the ante.

And upping the ante means taking leaps.

Did Combs really plan it all from the beginning?
probably not.
How much of it was playing with the changes?
I'd guess a 60/40 split in favor of "i got a few idea that might work..." then trying em. all.

Did Puff expect to be Diddy or P.?
Maybe.
Did he expect to act in classic plays like A Raisin in the Sun?

No way he made that list of successes from the start though.
A two step here, a bop there, and bong, new product to take you (him) higher and higher and higher and... Point made, thought found: plans work:underscore plural.
Experience realized: If you make one plan, make three, and allow for the possibilities they bring to open the door for more. But how does all that happen?
